Though she’s a single mom wedged firmly into thirty-something territory, author Kallie Reagan’s devotion to rock star Niles Russell knows no bounds. To pay homage to her muse, Kallie writes a smokin’ hot novel featuring a hero who looks and acts an awful lot like Niles — and a heroine who may or may not have a smattering of herself thrown in for fun.
When Niles learns about the book and surprise-texts Kallie, the two deliciously complicated creatives become fast friends… and so much more. But trying to define a relationship that’s laced with closeted skeletons, half-truths, and constant question marks proves harder than making it big. If they’re going to progress from Fangirl Infatuation to The Real Deal, these two need to give each other All Access to the most important place of all: their hearts.
My review of ALL ACCESS
Star rating: 5 freaking enormous cheering stars
It’s release day for ALL ACCESS, the romantic women’s fiction debut by Liberty Kontranowski, and I was lucky enough to get my hands on an advance copy a couple of weeks ago. I’m pretty sure the universe knew I needed this book, because I was sucked right in to the story from page one.
True story #1: I fangirled ALL OVER this book from the first chapter.
True story #2: ALL ACCESS will satisfy your every summer-book-love and beach-reading wish, want, and desire. And even better, it’s book one of a series. I can’t wait to read book two once it’s out!
ALL ACCESS begins with a never-in-someone’s-wildest-dreams-would-this-happen fantasy come true, and it’s amazing. Kallie Reagan, an author with a recently-released best-selling book, and a thirty-something divorced mother of two, gets the text of a lifetime. It’s from Niles Russell, the lead singer of her favorite band, and also her muse and inspiration who happens to be the basis of the male main character in her book, Nash. Niles read Kallie’s book and found the similarities between him and Nash more than a little coincidental. Then he had his people track down Kallie’s people to get her phone number. And so we get the scenario of Kallie being on the receiving end of flattering, entertaining, and playful texts that could be every fangirl’s daydream come true.
Oh, and one more thing–Niles wants to meet Kallie, and asks if she’s coming to his upcoming concert. He arranges for her to have a front-row ticket and as it ends up, wants to hang out with her after the concert. Um, SQUEEEEEEE! (I mean, I seriously did this. That’s just how into this book I was from those first chapters. Not kidding.)
I’m not big on giving the plot away in my reviews, so I’ll sum this up by saying what follows is not only the most awesomely magical dreams-and-wishes-come-true story I’ve read in a long time, but also one that shows how complex relationships and communication can be. As Kallie and Niles discover love, confusion, and unanswered questions, we see the very emotionally spot-on fears, tender moments, growth, and doubt that flow within romantic relationships. Kallie and Niles also show how you can only really know someone else if they’re willing to open up and let you in. A big theme in this book is about being honest and about each character showing the other person their true self (in other words, being real). It’s a good reminder for all of us.
Another huge theme in ALL ACCESS is “anything is possible.” It’s this that gives the story such a magical quality and had me cheering for Kallie and Niles throughout every triumph and stumbling block. At its heart, this book is about finding inspiration, following that inspiration, and daring to dream.
There truly aren’t enough great things I can say about ALL ACCESS. It’s exceptionally well-written, and I found myself flying through the pages in anticipation of what would happen next. When it was over, I both had that post-book reader satisfaction that comes with a truly engaging and entertaining read, and the “ahhhhhhh” of wanting more of these characters!
In summary: READ IT, READ IT, READ IT! And join me in requesting that book two of this series finds its way into our hands soon.
About the author
Liberty Kontranowski is a romantic women’s fiction author who adores all things lovey-dovey with a pinch (or more) of hubba-hubba. When she’s not at the keyboard, she’s taxiing around her three boys, knocking back craft beers with the hubs, blogging, fangirling, and dreaming up more fake people. She also spends an inordinate amount of time drinking coffee and dreaming of the day she can bid adieu to far-too-wintry Michigan and move to a place where she can write with her toes in the sand.
Liberty loves to hear from her readers (and otherwise cool people) so give her a yell. You can find her on Facebook at www.facebook.com/libertykontranowskiauthor; on Twitter at @liberty_k; and through her blog at www.PurdyandWordy.com.
